Description: How can what Jason-Jon Lacey does best be described? Yes, he is a singer/songwriter/musician/producer who has over the last decade created a voluminous body of work. Yes, he stems from an individualistic DJ background. He is also an amazing visual artist; capable of both hilarious caricatures and terrifyingly mutant surrealism the only way to describe JJ Lacey's career is eclectic. He began his artistic life creating obscure jingles and mock radio shows with his brother Marc - Anthony Lacey. Growing up in North London in the late 80s, he found himself experimenting with record decks and echo chambers, playfully vandalising Electro, soul and reggae grooves with some added sound effects collected via cassette tapes and put through the mangle via guitar effects pedals. JJ started making his own music and slowly building up his infamous home studio. His debut EP, "Songs 'N' That", came out in 2001 and was followed in 2002 by the album "Most Of Wot U Got" - a brilliantly diverse collection of soulful home-grown electronics. Afternrecording the album 'Most of what you got' JJ then took a couple of years out to find avenues to release these little gems that appear on the album. He then inrolled in a private school on music business. During this time he was to meet Camelle Hinds. Camelle is umoung the most respected song writters of the Funk/Soul genre's. Sausalito Calling from the Album 'Vibe Alive' was to win the soul record of the year and a JJ remix was to follow. 2003's "Radio London" was one of JJ Lacey's most exciting and adventurous outing to date. Its 11 songs comprise a wide-ranging selection of both self-penned tracks and interpretations of other artists' material, along with a few surprises and jingles. The album had a concept feel and the trademark production within the music started to become more evident as a more cult and underground following developed. Next in line is the most recent project 'FRAGILE'. This progressive album consists of 11 songs and an interpolation of 'Dear Prudence' (Written by Lennon and Mcartney).The album also includes a rare self indulged remix of the song 'Blow the world a kiss' featuring the vocal of opera singer Alice DeVille. The early version of the vocal was recorded in JJ's flat in north London. The two met on a film set in the summer of 2003 and collaborated on the theme song 'Blow the World a Kiss' to the short art house film 'Through the Looking Glass'. The film was a hailed as a flop but the soundtrack gained much attention from budding film makers all round. The original version of this song is a slow haunting ballad with splashy beats and a piano riff to die for, taken from a Kate Bush B side. Also on the album Fragile and towards the middle of the album, the sweetest little track 'Id like to know' appears and features O D Loveless on guitar, a recent member of the Psychedelic Ubik fronted by Sterling Roswell (ex Space Men 3). JJ and O D Loveless met in the summer of 05 when JJ joined the band as the electronics wizz. This soon led to an interesting project with the bands own producer Neil Brockbank famous for his own arrangements and productions for names to many to mention. With a helping hand from Rosco (Sterling Roswell) they then collaborated on a joint favourite track 'Call Me' (Written by Tony Hatch). The song features the soft and seductive voice of Lilly Anne on who is also the backing singer with the Ubik.
